The wonderfully organic shapes are created by using the ends of the fusible sheet glass, known as the "rolled edges". Every time I get a new sheet of glass (always from Bullseye Glass Company in Portland, OR, the company that produces the highest quality fusible glass), I cut off the ends and use them in projects like this. To add more texture and visual interest, I add a sprinkling of colored glass "pebbles" that I make myself by crushing up my glass scraps. Nothing goes to waste, and everything can be used in an art project!

These pieces are textured, with the colored pieces of glass raised in relief. This is done using the process temperature known as a "contour fuse", about 1380 degrees F. Two firings are needed to create these wonderful and unique pieces! Of course, as always, strict adherence to appropriate firing schedules is followed to insure that your piece will be well made and long-lasting!
